Breaking Borders was formed March 26, 2013 by a group of like-minded individuals in St. Petersburg, Florida. Since it's inception, BB has worked in Florida, Colorado, Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Breaking Borders started as a way to invest in the lives of youth and young adults in a fun way. It has grown and evolved into a Kingdom-focused organization that leverages its experience, passion, and giftings, to develop strong Biblical character development in youth and young adults.
Our Staff
Chasen Brokaw is one of the original three founders and the Executive Director of Breaking Borders. He has helped guide the growth of BB since the beginning. He loves being able to use his position as a way to spiritually invest in the lives of youth and young adults. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve with his wife in Nicaragua, but also facilitate the growth of all of BB's programs. He believes Ultimate is the greatest sport ever and that everyone should travel if they have the means to do so.
Katie Brokaw serves as the Chief Operating Officer and resident "Team Mom." Through her roles, she fundraises, creates digital material, helps with vision casting, advocates for the girls on our teams and creates community building opportunities through small groups and events. She's also responsible for developing new curriculum and materials for all of our programs. On a typical day, you'll find her drinking black coffee and listening to the soundtracks from classic Disney movies.
Exequiel Rocha is our Development Coordinator in Nicaragua. He has been working with us in an official capacity since the end of 2017, but has volunteered and served with Breaking Borders as an intern since the end of 2016. He has a passion for youth and young adults, Ultimate, and sharing Christ with others. He loves to eat, play sports, and believes his perfect weight is 134 lbs.
Danilo serves as the Director for Breaking Borders Dominican Republic. He is an influential figure in the Dominican Ultimate community and has a passion for using his influence in a way that points youth and young adults toward Christ.
